Regulation Of Marijuana Dispensaries In Phoenix

By Kevin Ward

A dispensary refers to a store that dispenses medical supplies such as medicines and medical equipment to members of the public. The dispensation is often done by a drug specialist, usually a pharmacist who follows prescriptions made by a doctor or other medical practitioners. When talking about marijuana dispensary, these are dispensaries that dispense various products of marijuana to the public. Marijuana dispensaries in Phoenix are located in several locations, making them easy to access.

The first ever dispensary established exclusively for selling marijuana was established within the United States in early 1990s. Dennis Peron opened the dispensary in San Francisco. It was established as the San Francisco Cannabis Buyers Club. It was opposed heavily during the initial years, but has lived to be the first store of that type. Its existence paved the way for similar stores to be opened in this country.

Dispensaries that sell cannabis to people can be classified into two main groups, that medical and recreational marijuana dispensaries. In medical varieties of these stores, only people with medical conditions that allow them to use the product can make a purchase. They are only sold an amount for their own use.

One is needed by the law to present their identity documents when they enter or purchase something in medical cannabis stores. These stores sell all preparations and products of cannabis including flowers, stems, buds, roots, and leaves. The various preparations are made in form of vapor, liquids or solid preparations. Fresh and dried supplies are also available. Those with prescriptions can buy anything they want. However, individuals without medical prescriptions have a limited choice.

An identification document is also required from buyers in recreational marijuana stores. Entrance and purchase of products can only be done by people aged 21 and above. Restrictions are applied on what kind of products are available for purchase. In most places, these facilities can only sell flowers of the cannabis plant. The law also demands that they close by seven in the evening.

Recreational stores may have armed guards at the entrance in some places. These businesses are often operated as cash businesses because many banks are often hesitant to take their money. This has something to do with the fact that cannabis has not been federally approved in the United States. In most states where it is approved, state laws require the shops to be installed with security cameras for monitoring the activities of buyers and sellers.

In some establishments, buyers are presented with menus containing the various items to choose from. Cannabis can be prepared in over twenty different preparations. People who are not sure about what they want can ask for guidance from the attendant at the front desk. Cannabis can be classified into three main categories, that is sativa, indica, and the hybrid.

Prices often differ with the preparation bought. Prices of some preparations are usually higher than of others. Another determinant of price is the location. The product is sold more expensively in some places than others. The huge economic benefits associated with the products is helping in the debate towards its legalization.
