How Marijuana Dispensaries In Phoenix Are Regulated

By Ashley Rogers

When the unprocessed cannabis is used for relieving medical symptoms and treating diseases it is called medical marijuana. Although in popular use, the substance has not been approved or recognized by the United States FDA as a form of medication. The usage of medical marijuana is not happening in the United States alone but in the whole world, with its use being higher in some countries than others. Marijuana dispensaries in Phoenix can be found in many places because they are many.

The benefits of cannabis are still under intensive research to determine their validity. Research is mostly focused on the cannabinoids found in the plant. So far, research has been able to make the FDA to approve two medications that contain cannabinoids for use by the public. More medications with cannabinoids in them are likely to be invented with further research.

The perceived ability of marijuana to treat several diseases and symptoms has led to debates demanding for its legalization. This debates are hottest in the United States, but they are also ongoing in many other countries globally. In response, several states in the United States have legalized the use of marijuana for medical purposes only. The laws vary from one state to another.

Lack of enough research studies is the main reason why the FDA has not approved medicinal cannabis. Any medicine must first be tested on hundreds of human test subjects to determine risks and benefits associated with it. FDA only approves medicines that have passed such tests and so far, medical marijuana has not been tested adequately. Until the research community conducts adequate studies with cannabis, it will continued to be outlawed by the FDA.

The cannabis plant contains cannabinoids, which are chemicals. These chemicals have a close relationship to the main ingredient contained in cannabis called delta-9-tetrahydrocannabinol (THC). TCH has mind- and behavior-altering ability in human beings. Several other cannabinoids are contained in cannabis besides THC. Abusing most of these cannabinoids comes with serious side effects.

Illegal manufacturers and scientists have historically produced various cannabinoids in the laboratory for various uses. Cannabinoids produced by illegal manufacturers always end up on the streets where they are sold to people and abused. The human body is also capable of producing its own cannabinoids. The cannabinoids produced by the human body are used for various metabolic and other bodily functions such as regulating pleasure, thinking, concentration, memory, body movement, and awareness of time. They also regulate pain, appetite, and the senses like touch, smell, hearing, taste, and sight.

Two key chemicals are responsible for the increasing interest by the research community in cannabis. The two chemicals are THC and CBD, which both have numerous uses in medicine. Some of the major uses they are known to have include boosting of appetite, reduction of nausea, and reduction of pain, muscle control problems and inflammation.

Conversely, there are not mind altering or behavioral effects associated with CBD. The main effect of CBD is reducing inflammation and epileptic seizures. In addition to that, CBD is thought to be able to alleviate or treat patients with mental illness. So much research in this direction is still underway.
