Navicular Pain And Its Causes

By Olivia Cross

Its the sharp pain in the lower limb that brings us in the world of thought, some ignore it saying its a usual cause some say it will go away while some try and self diagnose what the reason could be some rarely see the cause and in this cause will visit a specialist who may diagnose them with navicular pain or other causes. This diagnosis sends people into a world of thought. What is this condition, what causes it and how is it prevented?

The body is a connection of various bones and tendons, the lower limb has the navicular system, when one bone in this system is fractured it causes a strain in the whole of the system, when a muscle is expanded or contracted it makes the bone to twitch due to the movement whereby the twitch is transported in pulses through the nervous system and it is conveyed as pain to the brain, this is however known as a navicular paining.

A huge percentage of people who experience this condition are the people with an extra bone or in some cases a cartilage in their leg also known as naviculum vitae. Its located in the lower foot just above the arch. A percentile of people experience a painful condition known as navicular syndrome when the bones and navicular syndrome are aggravated.

The day to day activities at times come be taken for granted like walking and the daily jogging as a regular exercise, but to some this is a total discomforting situation for them since whenever they engage in any of these activities they have to experience the painings of this condition which tends to bar them from such an activity, because they know too well that engaging in this may even lead to breakage of their bone apart from the painful sensation.

For those with the extra bone or cartilage in their feet one of the main cause of this irritation is due to discomfort of shoes the wear or aggravation of extra bone. Some myths that have been associated with the development of this irritation is the association of weak bones with the painfulness, while some people claim that weak bones could be among the sources of pain there is no direct link between the weak bones and the painful sensation in the foot.

The misconception about having weak bones being the cause of this condition has been refuted as a myth as the pain that is normally experienced by the victims has no relation with the strength of their bones especially if they are healthy and function in a normal manner.

The link between the weight of an individual to the level of painfulness an individual suffers is directly related, this is because weightier individuals tend to strain the bones and the weight exerted on the leg is higher as compared to a less weighty individual; the weight increase of the individual may even cause the affected person to break the already cracked bone or worsen the situation.

On very rare occasions do thorns and pricks make one to have these pains, this is because the thorns rarely reach the central part of the foot, and the body has a defense mechanism against thorns which therefore disapproves this theory.
